Walk into any business, small, medium or Corporate and I guarantee that you will see and hear salespeople, well that is probably their title, engaged to a greater or less degree in the following activities;
· Talking about their vacation
· Worrying about whom said what to who
· Football results
· What grade of what job gets what car
· Who is seeing who
· etc
· etc
See how many you can add, the list goes on, as it is made up of everything that has nothing whatsoever to do with selling!!!! But sadly you will see or hear all of these in most, if not all so-called sales organisations.
The 100 Rule
Whatever we are doing in life, hobbies, parenting, working, driving, you name it we dedicate a level of energy to it. Let us say that the level of energy we dedicate is 100, everybody’s 100 will be of a different quantity but will still have the value of 100.
So we are in the profession of selling and it is our work.
Why have we chosen selling, as a profession.?????.
Is it because;
· We like worrying about where our next deal is
· We can spend hours and miles driving
· We like making presentations
· We like wasting time
So if ;
· Our success comes from our work
· Our work is selling
· We have dedicated our 100 level of energy to selling
Why oh why do we waste this precious commodity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you can ensure your 100 energy is solely focused upon selling you will WIN, TIME AND TIME AGAIN
So to help you, I would like you to do the following, be honest there is no point being otherwise, keep a diary for a week.
In that diary, remember be brutally honest, record where your 100 gets used that is not directly related to your success, IE everything and anything that you use that 100 for, that has nothing to do with your work, which is SELLING.
Then what?
Well that really is up to you isn’t it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
